EastZat Photography: Teen Angel ;) *English Drama Competition MSSD 2011*

haha. drama competition this year was awesome :D haha it was held on the 4th of May 2011 , at S.M. Shan Tao's Hall :) a lot of schools participated ; S.M. La Salle , St. Francis's Convent , S.M.K. Lok Yuk , S.M. All Saints & Sabah College , just to name a few but there's a lot more :)

so , basically our school did a play on D.M. Bocaz-Larson's script entitled " Teen Angel " . In short , the story's about a guy , A.J , who died in a car crash while driving with his girlfriend, Scarlet. A.J. gets resurrected in the afterlife and meets an angel , Gabriella , who tells A.J. to fix some problems from his past. He was sent on a mission to fix his past life so that he could earn his wings and enter Heaven but there is a catch , along the way , he must not remember anything about his past. He must bury his memories or he would become a lost soul and never be able to enter Heaven. So, in desperation of entering Heaven , he goes back to his past and tries to fix what ever he did wrong while he was alive. Along the way of finding the problem , he faces a lot of obstacles , he had to help Ken , a waiter who works at Andy's Diner, who gets bullied ALL THE TIME by Brad and Gang. In the middle of the story , Lola , a lost soul, tried to sort of misguide A.J. and fooled A.J. by giving him hints so that he will remember which of course will make A.J. a lost soul too and keep him from earning his wings. After contemplating and arguing , Lola advices A.J. to release Scarlet because she claims that Scarlet is the 'problem' that A.J. should fix and , Ken also had some feelings for Scarlet too. Thus , A.J. takes a big step and decides to release Scarlet . BUT , after a while , Gabriella appears to tell that Lola was actually one of the reasons A.J. died in the car crash , Lola was the one who crashed into them. However, A.J. forgives Lola and falls for her. In the end , they both fell in love and earned their wings.

Pn. Elizabeth Anja, Pn. Youvillea Lai and Sir Walter Misir , without whom , the whole drama team would not even exist. They were the ones who really pushed me into being in character when i was playing as A.J. . However , in the end , after 2 months of practicing and nagging :) , they really helped me a lot , especially in the Crying Scene , and now i can cry whenever i want :D hahahah

the only downside of this year's competition was , WE WERE NOT ALLOWED TO TAKE ANY PICTURES DURING THE PERFORMANCES. I was not pleased with this because for all i know , ive been in drama for 3 years and never before have i been told that NO TAKING PICTURES ALLOWED. I guess it's because it is S.M. Shan Tao's first time hosting a drama competition.

In my 3 years of participating in the Drama Competitions , i have never been given such a challenging role to play. Seriously , the first time i was given the script and the teacher told me what my character was , i really thought i wasn't going to be able to pull it off. A.J. is such a hard character to play , i mean , ive been a Grim Reaper and a Fortune Teller , but this year , i had to act as a Lost Soul. I owe a lot to my family , friends and teachers for supporting me and my fellow drama team members :)

so , the results of this year's drama comp;

Winner - S.M. Sains , Sabah (SMESH)
1st runner up - S.M.K. Lok Yuk, Likas
2nd runner up - S.M. La Salle, K.K.

OH ! AND GUESS WHO GOT BEST OVERALL MALE PERFORMER ? IZZAT ASHRAFF ! haha. yes, i dont want to sound vain or anything , its just that I am so excited that I have finally got that award after 3 years of struggling. I guess the crying scene really helped , i had to force myself to cry during our performance because i had to release Scarlet :D haha

Well , all in all , this year's drama will forever be embedded in my 'soul' and 'memory' (i guess i am a lost soul) . haha im going to miss my high school drama department :')
