  • so , after 2 weeks of hunting on the net , i finally decided to buy a new camera backpack. I personally don't like those camera sling bags because the weight is just too much to be supported by just one shoulder, so , with a backpack , mainly being two-strapped , it just sort of equalises the amount of force acting on your shoulders making it feel lightweight :) so , went to KK plaza with dad and bought the Vanguard BIIN 59 Camera Backpack.

    This backpack can basically fit a body with lens already attached to it , and 4 - 5 lens (depending on type of lenses) and additional accesories like speedlites or diffusers and such. it has two compartments , the one below has paddings for your gear and the compartment above is for storage of other misc. accesories like battery chargers , iPod charger and wires :)

    This is a link to the specifications of the bag :

  • i got home today at 5-ish pm and took a cat nap until 6.30pm. haha then , i figured , since i have a new speedlite , why dont i make a softbox for it. hahaha so , i measured the softbox out on medium-sized pieces of cardboard and started to make it :) it took me around 1hour 28 minutes to complete the whole thing plus touching-up on the sides of the box :D haha basically , what a softbox is used for is , to soften harsh light from direct flash from a speedlite and will also reduce/soften shadows :) in photography; THE BIGGER THE LIGHT SOURCE , THE SOFTER THE SHADOWS *quote from Lumiquest; world reknown flash modifier company*

    heres the softbox and a sample picture i took using it :)

  • hey guys , haha . so , after weeks of researching , a lot of thought put into ; i finally decided to buy the Nissin Di622 Mark II Speedlite for my Nikon D3100 :) hehe all this while , i have been using my Canon 580 EXII Speedlite on my Nikon but , the hard part was , it functioned as non-TTL .. which basically means , i had to set everything to manual ; from manual mode on my camera *although i often use M mode* to M mode on the speedlite itself.. so , it wasnt efficient to do it, PLUS , it is actually NOT safe to put a CANON speedlite on a NIKON hotshoe mount as it will mess up the hotshoe circuit (one of the main reasons i decided to buy the nissin .) .. so , after playing around with my newly bought Nissin Di622 mkII ; i am actually very pleased with it considering it is a 3rd-party speedlite.

    Believe me , this wasnt an easy decision . the other speedlites really fiddled with my mind because you have Cybertik , Sunpak , YongNuo , Octopus , etc. which are all good 3rd-party speedlites. but what really made me want the Nissin Di 622 mkII was its' i-TTL function , which means , it can fire the flash wirelessly WITHOUT the need of a transmitter/receiver triggering system AND it doesnt need to be fired through COMMANDER mode *for Nikon*. all you need to do to fire the Nissin is , your ON-BOARD Flash. BUT , what i have found out through my test runs just now was that , the flash from the on-board flash will affect your photos which will produce harsh lighting and over-exposed pictures ; which is just UGLAYYYY~

    by now , i know you guys might be wondering , "why not just buy a Nikon speedlite ?" .. the answer to that is , i dont have the money to buy it. hahah i cant afford the SB-700s , SB-800s or SB-900s [ AT LEAST NOT YET ;) ].. i was trying to find a speedlite which would suit my budget , all i had was RM200 .. so , 3rd-parties are the only choices i had. :D and the SB-600s were out of stock , otherwise , i guess i wouldve bought that instead. hahah so , my nissin shouldve been RM600 but i got a discount ,in the end i only got for RM480 :)

    so , now , to conclude this post ; i'll post up a few pictures of the Nissin Di622 Mark II Speedlite plus a link that will bring you to the full specifications of the speedlite ;
